Tick and Mosquito Products Used
You deserve to know exactly what active ingredients are applied to your property. Here is a complete list of the pesticides and products we use, as well as a brief description of when, where, and why we might use them. We are more than happy to explain which products on this list are used on your property.
This information is for transparency only and is not a “how to” or DIY guide. Much of their efficacy and reduced risk depends on technique, timing and the addition of very special "non-active" products called adjuvants.
If any of the pesticides listed below, or their packaging, are applied or handled improperly, they can cause harm.
Garlic Barrier AG+
This is concentrated liquid garlic extract. It's made from a special garlic cultivar with incredibly high sulfur levels. Ticks, mosquitos, bees and most humans find it repugnant. Ticks and mosquitos also find it deadly.
We use this when we need to "take decisive control of a situation" and areas far from houses or patios. If there are bees foraging in areas that we want to treat, we start with a garlic treatment in different area close by, this causes the bees to temporarily forage elsewhere and we can then treat the hydrangeas... but not with garlic, as we ultimately want the pollinators to come back when we are done.
Yes the description for Garlic AG and Garlic Barrier is the same.
LALGUARD M52 OD
This is a cutting edge bio-insecticide, or a biological control on a microbial level. The active ingredient is a fungus that colonizes and kills its host. We use this in the tall grass and bushes on the edges of areas your lawn patios and paths to control ticks. Despite it's 21'st century wizardry, the timing of this product is tricky because, many of the other pesticides we use have anti fungal properties.

Mosquitocon
This is a keyed water holding vessel attached to a concrete block. It's designed for use with the larvicide of a professional's choice. This nod to Hans Asplund, creates a cozy area for mosquitos to party, but their larvae will never reach the fourth instar.
We put these where mosquitos want to find puddles and dose them with an extended release larvicide.
You can't buy these, pros only.
Mosquito Bits
This is BTI in a granular formulation. BTI is a bacteria that kills mosquito larvae, fungus gnat larva and not much else. It is so selective, or narrow spectrum, that we can treat almost any water but drinking water.
As we walk around your property doing other things, we give a little shaky shake of this stuff into any small puddles or "things" on your property holding water (that don't contain drinking water). This turns every breeding site into a trap.
Natular G30
This is an OMRI certified larvicide. For Bug Buddy it's pretty HEAVY DUTY, and for good reason a license is required to purchase it.
The active ingredient is Qalcova™ Spinosad, which is biologically derived from the fermentation of a naturally occurring soil organism (Saccharopolyspora spinosa)
We use this in areas that flood and drain repeatedly such as stump holes, old cellar holes in the woods and ditches that don't run off into streams and ponds.
Kinetic
Even though they contain no active ingredient, adjuvants are the secret to making this whole system work. We spend thousands of dollars and countless hours researching and testing to figure out what adjuvants work with what pesticides and when to use what with what, where, when and why. The implementation of these findings are a large part of what you are purchasing when you hire Bug Buddy.
Fourstar
FourStar microbial larvicide kills mosquito larvae before they become adults by using the naturally occurring bacteria Bacillus sphaericus (Bsph) and Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti). These active ingredients are inherent in soil and contain protein crystals that when ingested rupture the gut wall of the larvae causing larval death.

Cedarcide Outdoor
This is the most pleasant smelling product we use! It's delightful to the human nose yet kills and repels both ticks and mosquitoes. When used properly, it does not harm or deter pollinators. We feel that the active ingredient(s), Cedar Oil and Lemongrass Oil are trusted enough to make this the primary product we use close to your house, patio, fire pit etc.
